He is commonly called Rumi in English. His complete name is Jalāl ad-Dīn Muḥammad Balkhī ( Arabic name meaning “Glory of the Faith) and more popularly only as Rumi. He born on 30 September 1207 and died on 17 December 1273.

He was a 13th-century Persian writer, faqih, Islamic scholar, philosopher, and Sufi mystic basically from Greater Khorasan. Rumi’s impact transcends national boundaries, and ethnic categories include Iranians, Turks, Tajiks, Pashtuns, Greeks, rest Central Asian Muslims, or the Muslims of South Asia have much enjoyed his spiritual legacy for the prior seven centuries.

Rumi poems have been broadly translated into many of the world’s languages and transposed into various formats. Rumi has defined as the “most popular poet” and the “best selling poet” in the United States of America.

Rumi works are written in Persian, but occasionally he also used  Arabic, Turkish, and Greek in his verse. His Masnavi (Mathnawi), composed in Konya, is considered one of the most famous poems of the Persian language.

His works are broadly read today in their original language across Greater Iran and the Persian-speaking world. Versions of his works are trendy, most notably in Turkey, Azerbaijan, the United States, and South Asia. His poetry has inspired not only Persian literature, but also the literary cultures of the  Chagatai, Urdu, Ottoman Turkish, and Pashto languages.
